“Music can change the world”-Beethoven.

THE BAND

The Baldwin Pops was cofounded in May 1997 by local band directors, Joe Riemer and Steve Sims; local musicians, Regina Buch and Tom Robinson, and a former Director of Continuing Education at Faulkner State Community College, Borden Morrow. The Baldwin Pops has been home to local musicians of all ages. Musical abilities range from those becoming acquainted with their instruments after many years of not playing to local band directors, music teachers, and professional musicians. All members share the enjoyment of playing their instruments, love of good music, and the desire to perform for appreciative audiences. Programs encompass a variety of genres, including classical, broadway, big band, dixieland, jazz, and marches.

OUR MISSION

• Contribute to musical life in Baldwin County, giving our concert audiences personal experiences with quality music.

• Provide our members with an opportunity for artist expression and musical growth by attaining professional standards of quality.

• Stimulate interest in the community band movement through clinics, tours, recordings, publications and commission.

• Assist in the musical education of young people - the future generation of adult musicians, through concerts, clinics, festivals and scholarships.

• Reaffirm the heritage of bands in America by broadening appreciation of the depth and variety of music that only a concert band can offer.
